Structural Engineering
Structural Engineering is an engineering field concerned with structural design, done economically and elegantly, so that structures can withstand potential loads. Structural engineering encompasses research, planning, design, construction, inspection, monitoring, maintenance, rehabilitation, and demolition of permanent and temporary structures, as well as structural systems and their components.
The disciplines covered within the field of structural engineering include:

The ITB Structural Engineering Research Group focuses on research in civil engineering structures—namely buildings, bridges, wharves, offshore structures, and dams—specifically on the performance-based design aspects of these structures.
Main Research
- Collaborative Research Program with Industry (a research collaboration between FTSL ITB, Nippon Steel, and Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC)).
- Structural Analysis and Damping System the Building Design Project (a research collaboration between FTSL ITB and Nippon Steel and Sumikin Engineering Co. Ltd.).
- Development Hysteretic Behavior of Beam-column Joint of Reinforced Concrete Steel (RCS) Project (a research collaboration between FTSL ITB and PT. WIKA beton).
- Safe Schools Project ( MIT Indonesia Research Alliance (MIRA) research – a research collaboration between CM – SE – GE Research Groups FTSL ITB and Urban Risk Lab MIT)
