Research Group
Offshore Engineering
The Offshore Engineering Research Group is a development of the Ocean Engineering Research Group. Initially, the Ocean Engineering Research Group was formed in 2006 following structural changes in ITB into Study Programs and Research Groups. In 2014, the Offshore Engineering Research Group was officially established, representing a focusing of its members' fields of expertise. The Offshore Engineering Research Group is comprised of academics graduated from leading universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Norway, and Malaysia, possessing internationally recognized competence.
As a maritime nation, Indonesia possesses abundant potential (in all aspects) where the Offshore Engineering Research Group can play a role in developing and optimizing marine resources. Accordingly, relationships between the Offshore Engineering Research Group and the government have been established through consultation and solutions related to marine engineering aspects. Several collaborations have also been initiated with local and international companies to provide licensed software, including partnerships to conduct in-house training related to offshore engineering research. Members of the Offshore Engineering Research Group are also actively involved in national and international seminar forums.
There are seven main research focuses developed within the Offshore Engineering Research Group: Offshore Engineering Technology, Subsea Pipelines and Risers, Floating Structures, Materials in Marine Environments, Marine Geotechnics, and Marine Defense Technology.
