The Industrial Hygiene and Toxicology Laboratory was established in 1976 as a laboratory compartment within the Environmental Engineering Study Program to meet societal demands for expertise in identifying, evaluating, and controlling physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic factors in the workplace environment along with their toxicological aspects.
Over time, this laboratory has expanded into several areas, namely:
- Industrial Hygiene & Toxicology
- Identification, evaluation, and control of physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic factors.
- Industrial ventilation systems.
- Industrial and environmental noise control.
- Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SMK3) and industrial OHS audits.
- Toxicology
- Acute toxicity testing (LC50 and LD50), sub-acute, and chronic toxicity testing.
- Environmental ecokinetics studies.
- Mutagenicity and carcinogenicity testing.
- Toxicity testing of treated products.
- Food and Beverage Sanitation
- Inspection of food and beverages: raw materials, processing, storage, and presentation.
- Poisoning prevention and control.
- HACCP analysis.
- Appropriate Environmental Technology
- Development of appropriate technology in clean water supply, wastewater treatment, drainage, and solid waste management.
- Financial, management, and community participation aspects in the application of appropriate technology.
- Community empowerment in the application of appropriate technology.
- Disease Vector Control
- Identification, evaluation, and prevention of disease vectors.
- Resistance testing of disease vectors to pesticides.
